The Vardousia Mountains are one of the most imposing mountain ranges in Central Greece and extend between the Oiti and Gkiona mountain ranges. They are distinguished by their wild and rugged nature, with high peaks, steep slopes, and extensive alpine meadows. Their peaks exceed 2,300 meters, offering unique landscapes and magnificent views. The area is ideal for hiking, as it has trails that cross fir forests, streams, and rock formations, offering an authentic experience in nature.
Pentasagioi
Pentagioi, or the village of Maria Pentagiotissa, is a small, traditional village located in the heart of Eastern Vardoussia. The village is built at an altitude of approximately 1,000 meters and maintains its traditional architecture with stone houses and paved alleys. Pentagioi is famous for its historical importance, as well as its natural beauty. The village is an ideal destination for those who wish to combine hiking with the authentic hospitality of a Greek mountain village.

Two-day hiking trip program in eastern Vardousia
DAY 1: SATURDAY – arrival and first hike
- Morning : The excursion starts early in the morning from Athens, departing for Pentagioi. The route lasts approximately 3-4 hours, passing through beautiful landscapes of mountainous Central Greece.
- Noon : Arrival in the village of Maria Pentagiotissa and check-in at the local guesthouse, where we will enjoy traditional hospitality and local cuisine. After a light lunch, the first hike will begin.
- Afternoon : The first hike will be a gentle route around the village, suitable for getting acquainted with the landscape and enjoying the tranquility of nature. We will pass through fir forests, meadows and streams, with views towards the high peaks of Vardoussia.
- Evening : Return to the guesthouse, traditional cooked food awaits us, followed by table games and conversations in front of the fireplace.

DAY 2: Sunday – main hiking route
- Morning : After a hearty breakfast, the main hiking route of the excursion will begin. The route will be of moderate difficulty and will lead us deeper into Eastern Vardousia. We will cross paths through dense fir forests, hike in alpine meadows and reach points with stunning views of the peaks and surrounding mountains.
- Noon : During the hike, we will make a picnic stop at one of the picturesque spots along the route, where we will enjoy our meal overlooking the impressive landscape.
- Afternoon : Return to the village late in the afternoon, where we will have some time to rest and take a last walk around the surroundings.
- Departure : Departure for the return to Athens, arriving in the evening, bringing with us the memories of an authentic experience in Greek nature.

Transportation is done by carpooling to ensure the family atmosphere we have created, which we coordinate!
